Calmer
Never underestimate the power of a tuna sandwich eaten quietly while hearing NPR's The World, to bring back some calm back. Still stressed, but now it's down to manageable levels, thanks to sitting in the warmth of my car. I always associate the AC blasting, beige blandness of this and other workplaces with stress. It's good to get away and be in the real air real world.
::looks at icon:: I should say something about John, I've been thinking about him a bit more after finding this com in LJ called Swirlgate Project and (looks for link) hey, the post is gone!

Hmmm. I had a lot of problems with that post. It was full of mistakes that could have been corrected by a quick beta by a meta inclined SGA fan (I don't read that much meta compared to other people, but even I could see errors) but now it's gone and there is no explanation that I can see over at http://community.livejournal.com/swirlygate/.
For those that don't know, Swirlgate is a SGA related com that seems to be exploring gender and stereotypes by recasting John and Rodney as women and doing little webepisodes on YouTube. I have no idea if they're good or even just fun. I get embarrassed very easily and sometimes these projects hit that embarrassment button in me, so I'm waiting for the right moment to take a closer look.
It seems to me like this is a separate corner of the SGA fandom on LJ from the one I'm used to, because I don't recognize any of the names watching the com.
ETA: The post has been edited and has been put up againa here: http://community.livejournal.com/swirlygate/6765.html. Thanks to
wickedwords for the link.

And I say this as someone who's spent a bit too much time dealing with SGA genderswap :D

Thing is, that's why most political and propaganda fiction's so bad. When you spell out your ideas, the art tends to suffer :)

But yes - I started reading and was put off by several elements, much as I applauded the premise.
Logovo, like you, I tried the webisodes they made but had my embarrassment squick triggered too hard. Hmm.

I was wondering at my own embarrassment squick and I think for me the self insertion is what gets me, which I get isn't quite what is going on here, but it's close enough. I suppose it could possibly work, but haven't really given it a fair shot yet.

The whole project pushed my embarrassment squick too hard, and I can't even read the text around it. Though I was willing to try...

I would like to hear what acafans think of it, in it's second posting.
