Apecalypse Now

Just saw "Rise of Planet of the Apes". Two three things:

1.- David Hewlett is never going to play a likable Simon Pegg kind of character, is he? :(

2.- Our future ape overlords are amazing and completely steal the movie. Humans? What humans?

3.- I'm having a hard time saying I enjoyed any other summer movie more.

Heeee! Everyone seems to love this movie. It's quite baffling.

The trailers certainly didn't look promising. I had completely discounted this movie, until the good word of mouth got me.

Have you seen A Dog's Breakfast? I'm not sure what you mean by "Simon Pegg kind of character," but Hewlett's character in that might fit the bill.

Yes, that is the only one I can think off in the last , but since he cast himself I didn't count it. By a Simon Pegg kind of character I mean the slightly dorky, funny, likable kind of every day guy. Last 3-4 times I've seen DH on the big screen he is playing wound up loud dudes - which yes, he can play, but he can play other stuff, like Cube or Nothing. I wish he next gets cast in something where the audience doesn't clap when something bad happens to him.
