First strawberries

This morning we had the first two strawberries from our garden. They taste different than even the best bought strawberries, just like home grown tomatoes taste better. These two were sweeter and the texture is a lot more delicate, and you can tell right away they would not survive being handled much.

Lucky girl! I've never had cherries that I know are from someone's garden, and usually that are not as tasty as the idea of what a cherry should be. But this year I bought some recently (SoCal living means a lot of fruit and produce at very good prices - except for the fact that we don't have water and we're heading for a major crisis :() that were actually the best I've had in a long time.

I was thinking cream and sugar would be perfect for home grown strawberries! You don't need much to enjoy their wonderfulness :D
